Thank You! —

November 6th, 2008
To all those who supported our campaign, volunteered countless hours, donated, and, most important of all, voted for Anne Northup. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your encouragement and support gave us hope. When times were tough, your calls, your notes of encouragement, your requests for yard signs and bumper stickers, your thumbs up and your high fives when we were out on the campaign trail energized us and kept us going when, in truth, we felt like hanging up our rolls of stickers and taking a nap. We had such high hopes and worked so hard to send Anne Northup back to Congress as our Representative, but, in the end, the voters decided to send another. Regardless of Tuesday's results, it has been a wonderful year, and we have so enjoyed meeting and talking to so many who agreed with us that Anne was the best choice for Louisville. Again, thank you for your time, your encouragement, and your sacrifices for this campaign. We could not have accomplished what we did without you. May God bless each and every one of you, and the country we all love, the United States of America. Gratefully,     Anne Northup and everyone on the Northup for Congress staff

Election Day is Today! —

November 3rd, 2008
With only hours remaining before the results roll in, the Northup for Congress campaign has kicked into an even higher gear. On Friday, Anne began her trolley tour of Louisville. Look for Anne on the Northup for Congress trolley in your neighborhood between now and election day! And, plan for a stop at your polling place today, between 6am and 6pm. If you haven't already, find your polling location and review a sample of your ballot. Because Jefferson County uses paper ballots, widespread delays are not expected. However, non-rush hour times are recommended. Before you step into the voting booth, visit our issues pages (see list below) for a summary of Anne's stance on the issues. The Economy and the Financial Crisis... The East End Bridge... The War on Terror... How Long Should We Stay in Iraq?... Veterans... Second Amendment (Gun Control)... Flood Prevention... Anne Northup: An Advocate for Greater Louisville Flood Prevention —

October 24th, 2008
Over the years, Louisville has experienced some of the nation's most devastating floods. During Anne Northup's ten years in Congress, flood mitigation was one of her top priorities. She secured more than 33 million dollars in flood prevention improvements for Louisville. That funding brought back from Washington has impacted nearly every corner of our city, most notably Southwest Jefferson County, where over 40,000 homes were removed from the flood plain. Projects that took place in areas like Beargrass Creek, Okolona, and Fairdale provided increased protection against flooding, the construction of detention basins which allowed for more efficient water flow, and the planting of trees and shrubbery along countless acres of flood prone land. Prevention studies were also an important part of Anne's impact on our community and highlighted areas like Churchill Downs and the University of Louisville which continually suffered from chronic flooding and devastating erosion and damage. Anne also teamed up with Louisville's Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) to reduce the impact of sewer overflow on streams, creeks, and the Ohio River. It was because of Anne's help that MSD was able to devise a mitigation plan to address areas of flooding in Hikes Point and Western Louisville, which eventually led to the improvement of our city's aging sewer systems and water quality. Unfortunately, John Yarmuth has not been able to begin any new collaboration efforts with the Army Corps of Engineers even though nearly 15,000 homes still remain in harm's way. Anne served as a true advocate for our community and is responsible for the flood prevention improvements we're living with today. Anne would like to continue her work for our community, but can only do so with your support. Send Anne back to Washington by voting for her on November 4th!
